Home Educators Day: Millions of Minibeasts10th September 2024, 10:00 to 14:00 at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre (97.7 miles)
An immersive day of outdoor learning at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre for our local home educating community.
The world is teeming with buzzing, flapping, jumping, flying, humming, creeping, crawling, sliding minibeasts. Come discover the millions of them who call our nature reserve home and take part in some fun minibeast themed activities. Search under the logs, go meadow sweeping in the grasses with the help of our experienced learning team and discover who's lurking in the branches above. As well as spotting lots of minibeasts you'll learn fascinating facts, play games and make a minibeast of your own to take home. Pop into the centre for a break from the action in our quiet reading space and discover what's in the sensory tray this month.
This event is suitable for children aged 4-11 years with an accompanying adult. There will be a range of activities with links across the curriculum, and a lovely chance to meet other local home educating families in a beautiful outdoor setting. We also have a lovely indoor space. Most activities will be self-led, with the chance to sign up for a meadow sweeping workshop with our learning team on arrival. Bring a picnic! We run home educators days on a bimonthly basis, keep an eye on the website for more dates or ask to join our mailing list.
We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you or your child are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
£8 per head & booking fee (please buy tickets for children aged 4 and up. Accompanying adult does not need a ticket).
